Nathan Lane is NBC Bound!

Nathan Lane, patriarch of the Addams Family, is to star in TV comedy Modern Family on NBC. The theater giant is set to play the role of flamboyant and kookie “Pepper”, a friend of gay couple Cam and Mitchell on the show. It’s not Lane’s first flirtation with TV sitcoms, as we all know, and we expect him to nail this one, just as soon as he gets some down time from the blockbusting Addams Family on Broadway. Tickets to The Addams Family Musical are selling as well as ever, and Lane must be riding the crest of the wave right about now.

The Addams Family musical on Broadway meanwhile, continues apace; the familiar theme tune from the TV sitcom sets the mood at the start of every crazy performance. Thing’s disembodied hand actually opens the curtain on theater’s most macabre family. By all accounts the set, the makeup and the characters are all spot-on and getting better with every performance, for a good play always matures like a fine wine.

Broadway veterans Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth are brilliant as Gomez and Morticia Addams, and no doubt when Lane makes the transition to TV on Modern Family he’ll be knockin’ ‘em dead there, too! Good luck, Nathan, we know you’ll be amazing!
